Castle

Portencross Castle was on the main Sea routes of the West of Scotland in its prime - the Sea providing the Motorways of Middle age Scotland where trade and War were rife.

Portencross was on the route from the mainland Seats of the King to the Island Strongholds of Rothesay on Bute and the sacred burial grounds on Iona.

The Castle is now being bought by a Village Trust to preserve it and its rich history for the future.
